Ganglion is a cystic swelling in the dorsum of the wrist, It can occur in the volar aspect also. In the dorsum, it consists of synovial protrusion from an intercarpal joint encased in a fibrous covering and containing a thick mucinous fluid.
The patient presents with pain and discomfort on movement of the wrist. It is firm in consistency and is fixed to carpal bones. Multiple puncturing and injection of hyalase often causes subsidence of the swelling.
